MERCURIA Business College premises can now be explored through 360-video. In the video, student Elina Mäkinen presents the variety of facilities in the building, and the VR-glasses allow the viewer to feel as though they are really moving around the school.
The deputy head of MERCURIA, Jarno Westerholm, explains why they decided to present their school with VR.
“We have a modern and comfortable school building, which we wanted to introduce in a novel and interesting way. 360-degree video is primarily aimed at students in their last year of basic education, to whom we market the school through visiting their schools and via Facebook and on our website.”
The virtual presentation has received excellent feedback from both the students and the members of staff. In addition, on Facebook the presentation has received likes and comments, such as the ”guide” was nice to follow.
“The developer of the VR presentation, 360Mediahouse, was able to implement the entire project from the manuscript until the finished product. They listened carefully to our needs and used plenty of time and resources to complete the video. Next we intend to make a similar presentation of our study exchange destinations.”
“We are excited about the opportunities made possible through VR and we have plans to also use 360-videos in our teaching. We want to offer our students the possibility to study in virtual environments and to produce content themselves. Virtual reality is really well suited in areas such as public speaking, where it can help the students get accustomed to speaking before an audience, getting rid of any performance anxieties they might have.
MERCURIA Business College is a private business school located in the area of Martinlaakso in Vantaa, with an average of 850 students. The school provides a basic diploma in Business Administration for adults and young people. The college was founded in 1908.
